Why'd I Do That!
Do you or have you ever asked yourself why you do the things that you do? When one poses this question to oneself often it’s because something didn’t work out as hoped for, as planned, with an expected result or some such thing.
Any way, we often see such things as negative or something we wanted to avoid at all costs. Yet as time passes and we look back on such things, we can see why things happened as they did. Then, we beat ourselves up for being so clueless in not seeing that, given the circumstances and the people involved, things had to work out as they did. We vow that we have learned the lesson and we won’t make that mistake again. Of course, we won’t until the next time it happens.
Yes,I know you’re thinking “Not Me!” If there is a lesson to be learned, I learn it. End of Story! Not always. In fact much of the time, we have to be hit over the head over and over until we truly get it.
What we get many times is no matter what we do, things just won’t ever work out for us. Some of us, live our entire lives with this belief.
Why? Because we have this belief as to how the world is and what my place in it is supposed to be and I can’t change what I believe is meant to be. And I spend all my time in reinforcing what I believe to be true.
If you think this doesn’t govern almost, if not all, of what we do, consider this.
Most of the people in the United States consider themselves Christian. Yet, think about how many different ways people practice Christianity. There are so many different churches. Each one thinks they belong to the right church. Some even think unless you subscribe to their way of believing you won’t get to heaven.
Our beliefs are our beliefs and it doesn’t matter what someone else believes as long as it doesn’t infringe on another’s beliefs. It doesn’t matter what we believe unless it causes harm to others.
However, it does matter if our beliefs keep us from getting what we need and want.
We need to change our beliefs to become all we were meant to be. We must do it if we are to enjoy all the bounty God has provide for us.
So how do we go about changing our beliefs? I’ll save that for the next time.
Have a wonderful day!
